Review Policy & Rating System

If you are an author/publisher, we strongly encourage you to familiarize yourself with the reviewers’ reviewing style you wish to contact and work with, ensuring that you read over their preferences carefully before submitting a Review Request. As well, we will place precedence on books we would BOTH enjoy and want to review together. While we both may accept a novel, if we both do not have time to read it, one of us will review it on the date we specify and the other will review it on our personal blog when we have a chance.

Please use the form at the bottom of the page to send us a review request. We will only respond if we are willing to read your novel.

We cannot make guarantees about reviews and therefore will be accepting books that are given to us as “for review consideration”.  This means that we will consider reading and reviewing it; however, we may not review it if, upon starting the book, we are no longer interested or are not “clicking” with the book.

Please note that, at this time, our blog is scheduled until the end of April for reviews. We are booking now for May 2017 to August 2017.

I am happy to accept print copies and e-copies in .mobi format, but I can also accept PDFs. Print is preferred and given more of a priority. I can only accept 2-3 review requests each month due to other reading commitments (and because I want to also read books I’ve chosen for myself), and my next free slots are from October onwards.

Preferred Genres:

  • Young Adult Contemporary
  • Young Adult Science Fiction
  • Young Adult Fantasy
  • Young Adult Paranormal Romance
  • New Adult Paranormal Romance
  • New Adult Fantasy
  • New Adult Science Fiction

Genres Not Accepted:

  • General Adult Fiction
  • Horror
  • Non-fiction

Rating System:

I prefer my stories with romance and a strong female lead. Good grammar – especially proper punctuation usage – is incredibly important to me, and I will take it into account when reviewing. I’m ok with a few errors here or there, but I will not take kindly to what I consider unfinished work.

I am happy to accept print copies and e-copies in .mobi format. Print is preferred and given more of a priority. I will also listen to audiobooks if you wish to send me your book in that format.

If I choose to review your book, I will review it per my usual reviewing style. I am generally a pretty fast reader, however as I am trying to balance my already owned books and upcoming releases, I cannot guarantee a timeline for when or if a book will be completed. Please remember that this is a passion project for me and not a full time job. As stated above, I would prefer to read books that both Dani and I have an interest in so we can read and review them together.

Preferred Genres:

  • Young Adult Contemporary
  • Young Adult Science Fiction
  • Young Adult Fantasy
  • Young Adult Historical Fiction
  • Young Adult Mystery
  • New Adult Fantasy
  • New Adult Science Fiction
  • Adult Science Fiction
  • Adult Fantasy

Genres Not Accepted:

  • Erotica
  • New Adult Contemporary
  • Anything with rape or dubious consent
  • Adult Historical Fiction
  • Horror (unless it is of the psychological kind)
  • Paranormal Romance
  • Non-fiction

Rating System:

I am drawn toward female protagonists, an actual plot that isn’t based around romance, great world-building, and overall squishy feelings when reading a book. My reading is not usually affected by grammar or spelling mistakes, but glaring and obvious ones will detract from my reading and therefore affect how I rate the book. I am more concerned with overall feelings of the book and the plot(holes) than anything else. I look for witty dialogue, showing instead of telling, and compelling characters and am generally not a fan of Purple Prose or stream of consciousness novels.

I review via a star system including 0.5’s that breaks down to something like this:

★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Amazing!

★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
Really great!

★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
I enjoyed it.

★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆
Take it or leave it.

★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
Pass on this one.

Nope.
