Taylor Simmons is screwed.

Things were hard enough when her single-minded dedication to her studies earned her the reputation of being an Ice Queen, but after getting drunk at a party and waking up next to bad boy surfer Evan McKinley, the entire school seems intent on tearing Taylor down with mockery and gossip.

Desperate to salvage her reputation, Taylor persuades Evan to pretend they’re in a serious romantic relationship. After all, it’s better to be the girl who tames the wild surfer than just another notch on his surfboard.

The Dream Cast for THE WAY TO GAME THE WALK OF SHAME has been set in my mind before a single word of the story has ever been written. Now I’m not so crazy to believe that my novel will be in theaters someday—although a girl can dream, can’t she?

Part of my plotting always involves working on character bios and finding pictures to fit the characters. I visualize the story better when I can see the scene unfold in my head. It helps me feel more connected with the characters when I can see them so I usually have a small folder with all the characters’ pictures in various situations and emotions. Sad, happy, laughing, fighting, etc. When a really bad case of writer’s block hits, then I would pull out the pictures to focus on as I try to get out of my writing funk. Plus, it’s fun to search through pictures online for hours and be able to call it ‘research’.

Disclaimer: Since I found this pictures before I even wrote my first draft, the actors and descriptions may not match the final version of the characters now. For example, the shade of someone’s eyes or which side a dimple is on their face. But this was how I knew them in my mind for years and unfortunately nothing can change that now.

So without further adieu, my dream cast for THE WAY TO GAME THE WALK OF SHAME. I know that some of these actors are way too old to play high schoolers, but since this is my dream cast, in my mind, they’re forever young. They’ve found the secret to the Fountain of Youth. Like Ellen DeGeneres. Or Mario Lopez.

Taylor Simmons

Medium brown hair with bangs that get in her eyes, dark brown eyes, slightly elfish face. She’s very slim with little to no curves. Medium height. (Actress – Danielle Panabaker)

Evan McKinley

Tall, but very broad. Muscular. Spiky dark blond hair, dark gray eyes, straight nose aside from the bump at the bridge, large square jaw that’s slightly lopsided. Dimple on one cheek. (Actor – Nick Zano, during the What I Like About You era)

Fun fact – This picture was what helped to inspire the first chapter of THE WAY TO GAME THE WALK OF SHAME

Carly Winters

Dark brown almost black hair that’s wavy and falls down her back. Tall and a little stocky, but very fit with curves. Square jaw with pouty lips. Dark eyes. (Actress – Lucy Hale)

Brian Long

Very tall and lanky (like a swimmer) and is of asian descent. He has slightly long black hair that he sweeps to the side, off his forehead. Very straight nose. (Actor – Wu Chun)

Lauren Tillman

Long curly red hair, icy blue eyes. Straight nose and very fair skin. She’s skinny and medium built like Taylor, but has curves that she doesn’t have. (Actress – Scarlett Pomers)

Aaron Fitzgerald

Tall and stocky with dark curly hair. Not quite as broad as Evan, but also muscular and has a way of always towering over people. Green eyes. (Actor: Zachary Abel)

About Jenn P. Nguyen

Jenn Nguyen fell in love with books in third grade and spent the rest of her school years reading through lunchtime and giving up recess to organize the school library. She has a degree in business administration from the University of New Orleans and still lives in the city with her husband. Jenn spends her days reading, dreaming up YA romances, and binge watching Korean dramas all in the name of ‘research’. The Way to Game the Walk of Shame is her debut novel.
